The 2024 Athena Caledonian Games, Athena's premier cultural event celebrating Scottish culture and customs, is right around the corner - Saturday, July 13!
We start the day at 8:45 a.m. with the Caledonian Kids Parade, which returns to Main Street after being held in the park for the past several years. Kids age 10 and younger are invited to gather at 8:30 a.m. on 5th Street next to The One Stop. Bring your bikes, trikes, scooters and wagons. Costumes and decorations are encouraged but not required. This procession will travel three blocks and finish up at Second Street, where they will meet their families in the parking lot near the Gem Theater.
At about 9:00 a.m. the Main Street Parade will get underway, traveling west from the high school parking lot down Main Street before turning left at First Street, going one block to Currant Street, and then returning east to the high school.
Beginning at about 10:00 in the City Park you'll enjoy sheepdog demonstrations, live music from "Skweez the Weezle" Celtic band (https://skweeztheweezle.com/), clan tents, a storyteller, vendors, Scottish bagpipes and dancers, and family games. Food vendors will be on Fifth Street near the walking bridge at the east end of the park, and Scottish athletic events will begin at noon in the school practice field.
Bring the whole family! Admission is FREE!
