Athena Caledonian Games
Ceud Mille Failte - 100,000 Welcomes!
Our Team
Curious to know who is involved in organizing the Athena Caledonian Games?
The official title of our group is Athena Caledonian Games Association. We trace our "lineage" to the Umatilla County Caledonian Society, which planned the first Caledonian Picnic and Games in 1898 but had to postpone it until 1899 due to heavy rains. The Caledonian Society organized Athena's annual festivities until the First World War interrupted "normal" life in 1914.
The Caledonian festival was resurrected in 1976 under the direction of the Athena Caledonian Games Association, led by Don Duncan. The Association became a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt corporation in 2009.
Our current team consists of thirteen participating members: Nick Seltmann (president), Kayla Durfee (secretary-treasurer), Sue Friese (adviser), Tim & Karen Albert, Colleen Bagdon, Justin Durfee, Dale & Mary Kay Hilding, Michelle Kirby, Troy McGee, Debbie Patton and Alan Wernsing.

Finding Athena
Never been to Athena? We are located on OR-WA Highway 11 between Walla Walla, WA (25 miles) and Pendleton, OR (20 miles).
There are two blinking light exits into Athena. The one closer to Walla Walla takes you to Main Street. Closer to Pendleton is the Third Street exit. The city park is visible from the Third Street exit.
